Top NBA Eastern Conference Contenders

For sports fans all over the world who realize that NBA betting is the place to look for odds the recent agreement between the players and owners gave pause for celebration and relief. There will be a NBA season beginning on Christmas Day with nationally televised action that is perfect timing to coincide with the end of football season and the holidays in which scores of fans will be home and looking for sports entertainment.

The Eastern Conference of the NBA in 2011-2012 is looking to be wide open the Boston Celtics are always a good place to start for top contenders. Boston is a perennial Eastern Conference title contender under coach Doc Rivers and they still have their core nucleus of the “Big Four” with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and assist machine Rajon Rondo. The big question for Boston remains depth with the second biggest question being that of age and if the veteran core can withstand the pounding of a packed NBA schedule of 66 games.

The Chicago Bulls are coming off a 62 win season and will have high expectations with those who know that NBA betting is the place to look for odds. The Bulls are led by Derrick Rose who became the youngest MVP in history. Coach Tom Thibodeau is a defensive mastermind that must find a way to get the offense jumpstarted come playoff time.

The Southeast Division continues to impress starting of course with the Miami Heat. With “The Three Kings of Miami” consisting of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh, expectations will again be through the roof although tempered after last year’s humbling lesson about how no team can just walk through the NBA to the title. As good as Miami is, they miss the key ingredient of a point guard and President Pat Riley is likely to pass on a mediocre free agent pool. This will put more pressure on “The Three Kings” unless until that problem is solved.

The Orlando Magic are an intra-state rival to the Heat that is also capable and talented and led by one of the league’s top super stars in Dwight Howard, the undisputed best big man in the game. The Magic can also bomb opponents from the outside with Gilbert Arenas, Hedo Turkoglu, and JJ Redick. This may be a last chance scenario for the Magic who face Howard’s free agency after this season.
